Introduction: Throughout the ages, and especially during the Vietnam War era, musicians have used their gifts to make social commentary and argue for or against issues that are near and dear to them. In this assignment, you are going to select a song that carries a social argument. Then, you are to create a presentation in which you:
1) Introduce the song / artist from your research. 2) Share a clip of that song briefly. 3) Analyze the lyrics, pointing out the argument present and the rhetorical devices the song uses (these can be musical devices as well).
Be ready to present this in class on Friday / Monday. The easiest way to go about this would be to embed the music into a digital presentation (like Powerpoint or Prezi) then provide a link to that presentation from Google docs or the site used. That allows us to transition more easily between presenters.
